Updated August 9, 2026 · 1 walkthrough

A customer record is the thing jobs, quotes, invoices and equipment history all hang off. Creating one takes a name and a phone number; everything else can come later.

The written steps below are the whole walkthrough.

Add a customer
  1. Your customer book
  2. The Customers list — everyone you serve, their properties and their balances
  3. Add someone new
  4. The "Add new customer" modal, empty, Residential already chosen at the top
  5. Who they are
  6. The field holding "Robert Callahan"
  7. …and where their quotes and invoices go
  8. The field holding [email protected]
  9. Where the work happens
  10. The suggestion list opens under the typed address
  11. Pick the real address, not just the words
  12. The field holds the full resolved address and the list closes
  13. Saved, with a property ready for jobs and quotes
  14. Robert Callahan's record — email, billing address, and a Home property

Recorded August 2026

The address is geocoded as you type

Picking a suggestion rather than typing free text is what puts the customer on the map, and the map is what routing is built on. A customer whose address never resolved will still take jobs, but the optimizer cannot place them in a sensible order.

Phone numbers and duplicates

Rhumbit matches customers on a normalized form of the phone number, so (512) 555-0143 and +15125550143 are the same person. That is what stops a booking request from the same customer creating a second record every time.

  • Enter the number in whatever format you like — matching does not care.
  • A customer with no phone number cannot be matched, so inbound bookings from that person will look like a new customer.
You can import an existing customer list from CSV, and export the whole list back to CSV at any time. The export re-imports directly, so your data is never stuck here.
