Add equipment on site

Updated August 9, 2026 · 1 walkthrough

Registering a unit means its readings, history and next service hang off the equipment rather than off one visit. Do it the first time you see the unit.

The written steps below are the whole walkthrough.

Add equipment on site
  1. Log the unit you worked on
  2. The new-unit form opens, ready for the nameplate
  3. Start typing the type
  4. The catalogue filters as you type
  5. Pick it from the catalogue — or add your own
  6. Type set to Air Handler
  7. Enter what's on the plate
  8. Brand, model and serial off the plate
  9. Save it
  10. The unit now has its own record on the property
  11. And the new unit brings its own required field with it
  12. Back on the inspection — and the new unit has raised what's still required

Fields you add stick — even on a unit with no type set

Capture fields are organised by equipment type, so a unit with no type has nothing to attach them to. Set the type first and the relevant fields become available.

Why it is worth the extra minute

  • Next year's visit opens with last year's readings already in front of you.
  • A failing trend is visible as a trend rather than as an isolated bad number.
  • Quoting a replacement is a matter of pointing at the unit's history instead of re-explaining it.
