Updated August 9, 2026 · 1 walkthrough

The written steps below are the whole walkthrough.

Record a payment
  1. Money that didn't come through the app still belongs on the invoice
  2. The Record Payment dialog opens with the full balance already filled in
  3. Take what they actually handed over
  4. A part payment of $200.00 against a $421.09 balance
  5. Cash, check, transfer — however it arrived
  6. Cash, Check, Bank Transfer, Other or Manual — card payments come in through Stripe instead
  7. Check
  8. The method now reads Check
  9. Write down which check it was
  10. The note records the check number and where it was taken
  11. Recorded — and the balance moves with it
  12. Partially paid: $200.00 recorded, $221.09 still due, and the check listed in Payment History

Recorded August 2026

Part payments

The dialog opens with the full balance filled in, but you can take less. Recording $200 against a $421.09 balance moves the invoice to partially paid and leaves $221.09 outstanding — it does not close the invoice out.

Methods

  • Cash, check, bank transfer, other, manual — anything you took yourself.
  • Card is not in this list on purpose: card payments arrive through Stripe and record themselves.

Every payment shows on the invoice trail

A check number, or where the cash was handed over, costs three seconds now and saves an argument later. It appears in the invoice's payment history alongside the amount.
