Assign jobs to technicians

Updated August 9, 2026 · 2 walkthroughs

Every job starts unassigned, which in practice means it is yours. Move it onto someone else's lane by hand, or let auto-assign sort the whole column at once.

The written steps below are the whole walkthrough.

Assign a job to a technician
  1. Unassigned work is the first thing you see
  2. The Team page: five jobs waiting, nobody on them yet
  3. Pick the job that needs an owner
  4. The Assign Job panel opens, with a recommendation already made
  5. Rhumbit recommends one before you choose
  6. Tara is picked — the button now reads Assign to Tara Nguyen
  7. Assigned — it's on their route now
  8. Assigned: four jobs left unassigned, Tara's count is up to four — and Rhumbit flags that it overlaps Marisol Vega (1:30pm – 3:00pm)

The written steps below are the whole walkthrough.

Auto-assign the unassigned work
  1. Four jobs today with nobody on them yet
  2. The Team page, with the unassigned pile waiting
  3. One click, everyone has a route
  4. All jobs assigned — Unassigned Today drops to zero and the column empties

Recorded August 2026

Auto-assign matches jobs to technicians on skills and location. Someone with no skills set is skipped — if a technician keeps ending up with an empty day, check their skills in Team before assuming the algorithm is wrong.

The moment it's assigned, it's on the tech's day

The job appears on their day immediately — there is no publish step and no notification to send. Equally, un-assigning it takes it away again just as immediately, so avoid shuffling lanes once people are on the road.

Unassigned jobs do not appear on anyone's phone, including yours. If a job seems to have vanished from the field, the usual cause is that it is still sitting in the Unassigned column.
